Well done 👏🏼 I’m currently on a fast, 39hours in. I will see how long I push it too 😄 since we aren’t allowed to go out. I have no reason to worry about catching anything. I’m fasting instead of eating everything in sight 🙈 lockdown solution for me lol Happy refeed 🧡

@Pascoal - well done! 39 hours is incredible! How often do you do extended fasts? I’m thinking about doing it every two weeks.. but don’t want to overdo it and eventually mess up my metabolism in the long run. I am also of the opinion that this lockdown is actually a blessing in disguise, for me to learn how my body reacts to extended fasts. I was pleasantly surprised when I read that autophagy is one of the benefits - which means it will only make us stronger in the long run 💜 I think I ate a bit to much, underestimated how much my tummy shrank! 🙈 Hope your fast is going well if you are still fasting 😘

Before the lockdown I was doing 48’s, Sunday and Monday fastIng and the rest of the week I did OMAD. For the last 2 weeks I have done a 42 hr fast, 63 hour fast and another 42hr fast. I’m going to try do 72hours or more this week, currently 48hrs fasted. And then After I’ve completed my fast and have two refeed days. I will do ADF(alternating day fasting). I will be doing dry fasting during the day and at night will drink only liquids on my fasting days. And have a 2-4hour refeed on my refeed days. It sounds complicated lol but I will be dry fasting during the month of Ramadan, so my refeeds will mainly be at night. I want to keep them light and in a smaller window to not interfere with my sleep. As sleep is more important to me than eating😄I just hope it all goes to plan. It’s very easy to slip up at night. Fasting has proven to actually rev up my metabolism🤷🏻‍♀️ I seem to drop more after a refeed than on my fasting days. It’s usually after eating Whole Foods high in chromium and vitamins and minerals. That is the key when refeeding. But if you are fasting for 48hr or more after a refeed, a little bit of refined carbs won’t do any damage. If at anytime I don’t feel well. I will do omad everyday. Will definitely listen to my body.

What app is this that you used to track your fast

Slow on the uptake as I rarely checked the chats 😇 What made you decide to do such a long fast, if you don’t mind me asking? Just curious

@Layla - it’s called Zero - it’s a really cool app 🧡

Hey Cath - it started off with a bit of over indulgence on Saturday. But turned into something that I am hoping to do many more of in the future. I am really enticed by the idea of autophagy (it’s fascinating - you can read up more about it) but essentially your body is “eating” weak and dead cells, and your body then replaces it. It is amazing to think of what it does for your immune system and especially fascinating if you have auto-immune or auto-inflammatory diseases. The second part - of course - after this fast for the next couple of days I could clearly see that my metabolism increased a bit. And thirdly - absolutely loved that clarity it gives one because your brain runs on “clean” fuel. The added bonus was - man oh man how I enjoyed my first meal after the fast. I could taste everything so clearly - it was absolutely delicious

Hi everyone I’m new to the app and the world of trying to get back into shape after 5 years of totally letting myself go... Please could you explain what fasting is? What OMAD etc is? They’re all gibberish to me 🙈🙈🙈

Hi Jade 👋 welcome to the world of turning your life upside down 🙂 fasting is a construct of not eating for certain periods of time. These periods are determined by what works for you. Intermittent fasting could be anything from 12 not eating for 12 hours and then having a period to eat for 12 hours. The most popular one as far as I can tell right now is not eating for 16 hours and then having a period of 8 hours where you can eat. OMAD is having one meal a day. My meals are also keto (high fat, low carb) and I try to keep it under 1200 calories a day. You also get extended fasting (which I do every alternate week). I do 60 - 72 hours. For more information on fasting and different types of fasting you can check out Dr a Jason Fung on YouTube. He also wrote an excellent book called “The complete guide to fasting”. I would also highly recommend the app called “Zero” pictured in the post where you can track your fasts and read more valuable information. Happy dieting! 🤍
