I just reviewed my journal history. Quite a lot of life happened in between those posts, and it’s not reflected in the notes. A lot is still the same though.
Life is still kicking my butt. I have to expect that with the amount of children I have. What’s crippling my mind is the state of my wife’s health. It has been over a year and we are waiting for her next surgery Friday. Another one. It’s been a heck of a journey and I’m sincerely thankful for the Body of Christ walking with us through all this. I’m thankful to have because I know she should not have survived December 2022.
That puts “weight” goals or “body” goals in the “non-priority” priority column. However, I still need to maintain or at the very least, have forward progress.

Biggest drop I have seen and it come with a slow progression of changes. I changed my lifting to high reps moderate weight which has taken a month to acclimate to and I recently increased my cardio. My cardio is practical, meaning, I’m busting my butt doing yard work and landscaping. It’s a win/win. The past two week are what broke the plateau. My body was very happy at 245lbs. Having a caloric deficit and some good exertion, did not translate to weight loss, oddly. I really had to break it.
I had a couple of 7k caloric burn day and maintained my diet, just massively increased amount of water consumed. That did the trick.

Freaking rough couple of wee…months!!!! Life is kicking my butt. Curve ball after curve ball. I broke a little this week. The pressure is starting to show. Finally got several projects finished at work and some residual problems resolved on Monday. Hurray!!! Was on a roll so I didn’t work out at lunch. I went after dinner.
My body is totally different at that time of day. Realized that after stretches. Decided to implement a light weight, high reps routine instead. Everything was going well but I was fatigued and losing steam. So, I asked a kid to spot me on my last set because I was feeling iffy.
Last press and my shoulder pops so loud half the dang gym hears it. This idiot kid start yelling at me to finish the lift. I scream in agony and anger and set the weight as a body builder comes over and lambasts the kid. I was pretty sure I tore my labrum. Tuesday…pretty sure I tore my labrum. Yesterday….maybe it’s just torn scar tissue. Today, a little PT work and a back routine and some mac daddy pops and I think I just pulled my tendon back into place. Sweet mercy! It hurts like few things can. But my shoulder is working and I’m happy it’s not purple or numb. This is a cadaver shoulder anyway. Can’t lose another one.
Even still, I have eaten more this week than ever before (not counting the buffet days). With some of the panic of my shoulder gone, hoping that corrects as well.
