I will be 43 in a few days and I've been a diabetic for the past 9 years. I almost didn't live to see 43. On July 6th I had a heart attack and on July 11 I had what started as a triple bypass that turned into a quintuple bypass. The doctor told my husband that without that surgery, I wouldn't have seen 43. That's some scary stuff. It's not like I'm not active. I've been a mail carrier walking anywhere from 8-16 miles a day for the past 16 years. So I walk. But my father had diabetes and heart disease. My father died of a huge heart attack. So I have to get healthy NOW so I can live to see 80, at least.
