I NEED SOME GUIDANCE. Im totally lacking motivation and need to get back into the gym I just dont seem to have the energy and cant get it together AND Ive caught myself eating even when Im not hungry. I already screwed up today's diet with some mac salad this morning. I dont care. Ive been nauseous for days due to a new med Im taking and it was that or bread so I chose the lesser of the two evils. MEH. AND then my check was short 300$ so not having a good day..Only sharing this bc Im an emotional eater.. trying to avoid that today. I quickly reset and had some low carbiness. No time like the present.

Are you doing this "solo" - anyone you could go with to the gym... or even on a walk with? I think, as we walk through this journey, it's "fellowship" we crave the most... to know we're not out there, all by ourselves... a sense of community. There's only SO much this forum (FS) can do to encourage and motivate us - nothing replaces human interaction for that "umph!" of moral support.

I was thinking, on my way into the gym today, that I really didn't feel much like exercising .. what I really felt like doing was going to the gym and getting on the bike or treadmill so that I could listen to my music without the darn phone ringing or some other distraction! So .. that's what I did .. and know what? I had a great time!!! Is there a way that you can make it FUN? Having a gym partner or meeting people there is one way (like From 37 said). For me it's my music. Maybe its watching videos .. OR coming back online and telling us all about it!! We are behind you all the way!!!

If you have a smart phone, download the free version of Skimble. You can schedule workouts of various types so you do not get bored. Also can choose from casual, moderate, and intense levels. And the best word you can learn for yourself is "NO." Say it aloud if you must to remind your brain (and your emotional eating) there is a new sheriff in town, and we are not having that old mindset. Now, that said you have been through alot lately, so give yourself grace. You are worth the effort, but if you need to take a time out for a day or so to get back into the right mind set to start again, then do so. We'll be here waiting on you! :)

I've had some luck lately with MCT oil for a bit of energy, though Coconut oil can help too. In fact, I've been finding it even helps me get out of bed. The stuff is processed very quickly & I soon feel slightly flushed--as if I had already been working out--with a subtle restlessness that seems to make staying in bed not an option.

Oh, and seems to help a bit with mental fatigue when one hasn't eaten in a while. That has helped me a lot when I'm getting discouraged.

Joining challenges motivate me because I can be competitive and want to be the one who loses the most. So far I haven't done that but I've come in 2nd. I prefer shorter challenges, just a few days, no more than 4 weeks. I would do the 3 day egg fast if it get posted again.

It gets harder every time we try to kick these carbs. I really had to dig my heels in deep to get through these first 3 days. Day 11 and it is feeling a little easier. Day 21 I hope that all the cravings will be gone. Cleansing our bodies of the toxins is key but it takes a few days. Let's join with HCB and get this going. 😤 🤔

Welcome to my world. All that works for me is moving toward something rather than cutting something else out. Such as planning meals of vegetables and meats I really like, rather than thinking of giving up sweets. Around body and food stuff, I'm neither motivated or disciplined. Logging everything I eat, and posting pictures as much as possible, is a way of showing myself the effort I've made, to feed myself well, even if ok looks mundane and repetitive. Visual reminders give momentum to keep at it. Carol Munter's work helped with the EE aspect; she talks about frequent hunger being an opportunity to nurture oneself repeatedly. Which isn't really a topic that gets addressed here much, amid the focus on weigh-ins and intermittent fasting.

You have come so far, you can do this. The new meds might be part of the problem. I would talk to the doctor about that. If your check was short, it will be rectified. Don't let that frustration derail you. Emotional eating is a habit like any other. It won't get you to your goal. Just remember how far you've come and how much better it feels. Venting is good. This journey is not easy and you have done superbly.

You have to find a workout partner that will drag you out to walk or to the gym. It takes getting up and doing it. Only you can make yourself but nudging helps.

After you get that good night's sleep throw away the mac salad and the bread. (If you have a family who must eat "regular foods" put them in places that are difficult to reach, such as a top shelf that requires you to drag a stool over to reach, or the lower back shelf of the 'fridge where you don't see them.) Bag up some low-carb snacks and put them front and center of the 'fridge - deviled eggs, stuffed celery sticks, deli ham, cheese sticks, salami-wrapped green beans, etc. If you're feeling nauseous microwave a cup of chicken broth or make a cup of mint tea. Finally, take a deep breath and relax. Slowly relax your entire body from toes to head, and think positive thoughts. Don't stress over the gym, take a walk and do some stretches if you feel like it, and don't beat yourself up.
