Christinemeowk's Journal, 22 Apr 16

I'm not looking forward to walking later on tonight because my thigh muscles are still screaming... but I am looking forward to seeing that scale move and hitting my 250 minute of exercise a week mini challenge goal.

No pain no gain I guess?

I'm definitely gonna have to channel my inner viking warrior!

Make sure it's just muscle soreness, not joint soreness! When I started a running program a year ago I pushed through the pain and ended up hurting my knee and not being able to do anything for a month.

I'm pretty sure it's mah muscle. They burn more every time I go between standing and sitting. Almost makes me want to cut back on the water. Lol going to sit on the potty is brutal!

Well, the no pain no gain thing, I believe in wholeheartedly. My brother in law was asking me where he could get a teeth cleaning without pain, and I pulled out your saying, "NO pain, no gain!", and you being such a smart girl, understand this. It is the key to ALL success!

Chris, Try this. Before you go walk drink a glass of water with a teaspoon of baking soda in it. That will help your body neutralize lactic acid. I do it. And so do Olympic athletes. Your legs wont burn as bad and it will increase endurance because it helps your red blood cells move more oxygen.

Or.... The baking soda will be neutralized by the copious amount of hydrochloride acid in your stomach. It doesn't magically transport to your muscles. Lactic acid isn't even what makes your muscles sore; its the tearing of muscle tissue (which is good because that's how your muscles grow)

LISTEN to music or a book - distracts you!

Notelaine, that's not correct. I have been using it for years. Your stomach has very low acid levels unless it is around a meal time. And people don't usually go for a walk when they are about to eat. Trust me ladies. I know of which I speak. No it does not go straight to your muscles. It first aids in neutralizing acid levels in the blood. And then it aids in the suppression of lactic acid produced from burning glycogen in the muscles. Try it. And if it doesn't work for you then so be it. But trust me, I don't do things that don't work.

If I drink water before I go I'll be having to stop and pee, or be suffering from the holding my pee full bladder sweats. Lol no bueno!

Uh, I "know of what I speak" as well. Your stomach has a pH of around 4. More than enough to neutralize a tsp of baking soda. And you can't 'alkalize' your blood. Your blood's pH stays in a very narrow range. If it's overly acidic, your dying. And, like I said, it's not lactic acid making her muscles sore. It may work for you, but hey, the placebo affect can be pretty powerful.

Ma'am, I have been using it for years. And you CAN alter your blood PH quite easily I may add. I see it where I work on a DAILY BASIS! Now I don't know where you are getting your info, but I get mine directly from the lab. I work for one of the largest pharmaceuticals in the world. This has nothing at all to do with the placebo effect either. Answer me a simple question if you think you know how it works. How does liquid that enters your body make it to your bladder where it then leaves your body? Tip NOT though your intestines. It only starts its journey there. And as I said before. Your stomach does NOT have enough acid in it to acidify 8 oz. of Highly alkaline water. UNLESS you drink it with a meal when your stomach acid levels are elevated. THAT can even halt digestion of food. You CAN in FACT neutralize a stomach full of acid with a single teaspoon of Sodium Bicarb. But that is beside the point. AFTER the alkaline liquid leaves your stomach it is absorbed into your intestinal walls where it then enters YOUR BLOOD STREAM. INSTANTLY raising PH. NOT A LOT. But it does. And this blood circulates through the body every 7 seconds. Eventually it makes it to the kidneys where the excess water that the body deems as un-needed(To keep blood pressure balanced) is then filtered out through the kidneys and pumped into the bladder as urine. Which ALSO has a much higher PH than it would otherwise. Because the Excess alkalinity is removed if it has not been used to elevate pH or neutralize acid. And if you don't believe me, try it for yourself. We do it to mice and rats every day here. And YES lactic acid IS what causes muscle pain during a work out. Look at my picture Ma'am I think I know a bit about Muscular development. Why am I even arguing with you?

Pain during a workout is not the same as pain from a workout. The pH of your urine does not indicate the pH of your blood. But why am I arguing with you? Your awkward neckless photo clearly indicates your exact knowledge of every biological function.

I'm sore in new places from pushing myself harder lastnight. Baking soda won't reverse that. Pretty sure what I need is motrin and big girl pants. Lol
