At this point you're looking to "dry out"...so 1 - 1.5 gallons of water per day...up until 2 days before the wedding cut water to 64oz, 1 day before 20oz. Keep your carbs as close to zero as possible. This will shed any excess water (and then some), and slim you down as much as possible for the Wedding...on the way home from the wedding, be sure to drink and eat :-)

She didn't say how tall she is and what she weighs. 1.5 gal/day for 2 days may make her feel worse and risk water toxicity - for a big guy who is active this may work. I don't recommend it for her. Low carb, yes, 3 qt water/day, yes, magnesium, potassium, Calcium and sodium will help prevent serious cramps in body, mostly legs. Happy wedding day.

Have the best time!

@ KathyJP - It is her friend's wedding - and drinking half your body weight in water is always a good thing. And Red works out hard, so sweat happens and she drinks supplement drinks. I think she is looking to flush - AND we NEED pictures, RG when you have the fabulous dress!

Hyponatremia (water toxicity) is when you have flushed too many electrolytes from your body in a short period of time. Water spread throughout the day would be at max 64oz every 3hrs, and not for example1.5 gallons in 3hrs to play catchup.

You can do it , girl!!!

@HCB: Advising someone to drink half their body weight in water is recklessly dangerous. Half my body weight in water would be 75 pounds, which at 8.34 pounds per gallon is nearly 9 gallons of water. Fatal water intoxication in adults can occur with just 6 L of water - less than 2 gallons. http://www.medicaldaily.com/water-intoxication-just-how-much-h2o-does-it-take-kill-person-312958

No..... You're not drinking 9 gallons, you don't want to exceed the rate of 64oz every 3 hrs, and no more than 1.5-2 gallons per day......NOT 64oz every 3hrs for 15-18 hours.

@Karen, I think HCB was using a sort of shorthand that exists for this topic--using half one's body weight in pounds as a guideline for the number of fluid ounces to drink in a day, not pounds. If you're not familiar with that shorthand and take it literally, then it would indeed seem unrealistic and dangerous.

It's 1/2 your body weight in ounces - So 75 = 75 ounces. That's a little over 1/2 gallon (64 oz) of water to hydrate your body and brain. Our brains really need water - dehydration often causes headaches. And among other things like wrinkles and dry skin. To put it into perspective: Two 32 oz. Big gulps cups + another 11 ounces = 75 oz. Or carry a sports water jug with you - that should have all the water you need for the day. If you're like me and get bored with water, unless I am very thirsty... Try sparkling water with flavored stevia or flavored extracts. Additionally, green teas - qualify as a healthy supplement. And to really make water more interesting, flavorful, aromatic, beautiful and appealing - I infuse my water with fresh fruit, citrus, mint, or cucumbers. Display it in glass containers with ice or frozen fruit. I get lots of compliments on my pretty spa water. I just discovered vitamin powder and liquid strawberry/kiwi collagen supplement, from Costco, to infuse my sparkling water with - tastes great! Just like diet sodas! - If you don't' mind that flavor.

To summarize everyone's comments....drink water, don't drink too much :-)

HA!....forgot to mention the goal of this. When you look at bikini, fitness, and body building models, they don't look like that day-in/day-out... What you see in the photo is a "Dry Cut" or "Dry Out". Increasing sodium weeks before, then increasing water 7 days out...cutting water 2 days before...this sheds excess water and draws additional water out from under the skin. Why?...it's only good for one day, that one day when you have a photo shoot (or wedding...and you want your arms to look thinner), after that they go back to their usual diet routine.

Great roaring Red girl... Maybe you already know this. I am discovering now that nixing the carbs and sugar and increasing the protein and healthy oils/fats is the fat secret. Weight loss has been very slow for me... So I wanted to experiment and give Fred4win's 5 carbs or less daily challenge a whirl... Wasn't so sure how practical it was for me, but to my surprise I have dropped 4 pounds this week! I don't think that I will keep it up for a lifestyle - but I think it will help me reach my goal sooner. Best wishes on your BFF's wedding. Embrace all the love and happiness that surrounds you.

Above all...enjoy the day with your BFF! Celebrate their future, giggle, dance yourself crazy and create some amazing memories you'll still talk about 20 years from now ;-)

@ Karenbledsoe - it is half your body weight in OUNCES - I think that was obvious - who measures water by pounds ? - Ridiculous comment. You would drink 75 OUNCES which is just over 9 cups! Not the least bit dangerous!
