I have realized that my own calorie restricted diet, just "eating healthy" does not work very well for me. I would relapse and justify eating certain things because I "earned it" for eating healthy.

I have a friend who recently got diagnosed with prediabetes. It is a scary thought, being in your 20's told that you will get diabetes soon. I know for a fact that I do not exercise as much as he does, so it is probable that I can have prediabetes as well.

I am wanting to change that and follow the Low Carb or Ketogenic diet. Giving up carbs will be tough, hopefully I can distract myself with enough yummy proteins.

Low Carb/ketogenic diets are actually high in fats and moderate protein. Your calories from fat need to be in the 60-70% range with maybe 20% protein and 10% carbs. Once you get past the first 2 weeks (induction) the carb cravings tend to subside. Good luck on your diet plans.

^^ this. www.ruledme.com has an excellent calculator for keto macros. Some people, like myself, go even lower on carbs and higher on fat. Congrats on your awareness, and welcome to the "dark side" LOL
