Interesting Dazey. I have never seen anything like that. I think I have read something about APOE but not enough to remember what that was. Hope you are doing well this Sunday morning

Am I reading this right??? they are telling you to eat a low car diet, and what they recommend as a low carb diet is 45 to 50 percent of your calories from carbs ??

scratch that 45 to 55 percent!
07 Jan 24 by member: ObeseToBeast123
Yeah it is not very low

Fat Secret Macro Nazi has me at 50%... those bastards😂

Yeah 50 percent is my carb goal and that is considered a high carb diet

I aim for close to O%!

Wow!!! That is really cool, if it is accurate. There is so much pseudo science these days, that it is hard to know.

interesting I'm new to this app I've used my fitness pal in the past but they have changed it hoping I like this one I have a 100 pound goal I turn 50 this year I'd like to lose at least 50 by the time I turn 50 in Oct

Definitely not a low carb diet at 45-55%.

So was the dna test a part of the lose it app? I am curious how I could use the dna test I did for ancestry to that. I wonder if ancestry has something like that on its own. It would be interesting to see what my genetics recommend. I know with the advances in dna study they can taylor some things. Others are going off of averages like you and 10% of the population are like this. Let us know how the recommended carbs go

I support a 50% carb diet and its about what I eat but it's definitely not low.

I acquired dna test from ancestryDNA, once i got results i followed the steps in the LoseIt feod tracker app to see their recommendations based on my DNA. Really cool, gave me some insight.

You can order a test thru LoseIt but i wanted one done anyway. Im 50% greek and 25% Italian and my grampa was a mixed of Scottish, irish, British and Norwegian and other stuff i was surprised by.

Interesting. Agree that 45-55 isn’t considered lo carb by most people. I am also around 50 %.

This has been studied in a reputable and large DIETFITS study by a Stanford researcher Christopher Gardner, whether there are particular genotypes that respond better to low carb (higher fat) versus higher carb (low fat) diet for weight loss. The study did not discover any such genetic predispositions for diets. I would scrutinize the evidence Lose It or the genetic testing company provides for connections between diets and genes. Is there any information what “research” they are referencing?

I'm glad you brought up that study, Agnes. It's a good one. I think that's the one that also showed there wasn't much difference in weight loss in low carb vs low fat. Really all boils down to compliance. The trick is to figure out what you can stick to long term. I think Layne Norton puts it best. He says that all weight loss/maintenance depends on restriction, so you need to learn what you can restrict that feels the least restrictive to you. There's really no magic to any method

Never heard of DNA loose it spot. Is it part of Fat Secret? I took the ancestry DNA test. And I send over to Genomelink, they do a little more on traits.
