When Canada Games shutdown, and was eventually demolished, they relocated the Equipment. When I moved here in 96' Canada Games Pool was the "Bodybuilders" gym. It's not my main gym, but I still go here once a week to use different equipment than what Dynamic Fitness has. Plus the place has a really nice inmate feel, even a questionable shower room.

It's funny, the old Canada Games always had the largest collection of naked old guys. I have no idea what the deal is with elderly men and gym locker rooms. some YouTube creators have made content about this strange phenomenon.

I mean no offence by this, but… what this? No country for old men? Haha It is not a phenomenon., it’s a social thing, often dripping with ego and bragging about days gone past. Those people earned their colours in those places. They used to be their version of you. They still sort of see themselves as they once were. It is absolutely no different in a golf club, a racket club, or a tennis club. Just different brands of ego! They felt like they belonged there then and it’s hard to give that feeling up for some. I get what your saying, it is not how I would ever spend my time either. But, you never really know until you grow older where you are going to reach out to for that old connection… it seems to me, that’s a pretty obvious place for some…

I have nothing but respect for the elderly, but I don't think I will ever be comfortable dancing around young children at public pools (that have a gym) because of my male bravado. Having a shower, getting changed all good, but it's the extras they insist on pushing that flat out make it bizzare.

Yep, your definition defines the whole place to a tee! They are sticking it to you. They are telling you that this is what is going to happen to you, and they are the one’s doing the laughing! That’s locker room mentality! But the prancing around is not limited to just the old. Old or young, it should not be any more or “LESS” acceptable. It should just be accepted if you are going enjoy the place - it is a fact of life… Until that changes, they are both going to exist. The culture breeds it… locker room ego is the primary reason I won’t even grace their doorways… There is always a leader, and there is always a bunch of followers…

Uh? OK, don't think it bothers me as much as you think. It is as you put it a cultural thing, an age thing, from those that make blatant racist comments, but it's ok because their old. I was really making a joke about a thing I find strange. I guess it just wasn't funny.

No I’m sorry… I didn’t not mean to suggest anything by my “observations”… I see you as one of the good guys! I wasn’t thinking you were taking it seriously, I get, and understand what you were trying to say. I just thought it was such a strong cultural thing that it warranted clarification. If there is a phenomenon, it is in the culture itself! I would compare it to any number of other activities, but I would get raked over the coals for it. I did not mean to make you uncomfortable - I will try to be more aware of that in the future. In genuine friendship - DV

Coolio...You ever see the movie "Stay Hungry"? I only saw it a year ago or so. Very early Arnold, and a slew of body builders of the Golden Era. The body building is sub story, and Sally Field looks great. Anyhow my weekend gym reminded me of the gyms popular in the 70's, nothing fancy like they have now.

Strangely enough, it kind of rang a bell, so I googled a clip and it must have been one of those midnight burners they ran. Very funny. 1976! It was classic Arnold if there is such a thing… I remember the scene with doing their routines in the street intersections… It was a Rocky Balboa sort of movie…

Yeah, more a Riches to Wrags then back to Riches, and what is really important in life. Rich developers and real estate. Arnold basically plays himself, it's more a Jeff Bridges vehicle, and maybe the movie that turned Sally Field into the hot girl next door mold (vs. being lovable Gidget) Ultimately it's a pretty odd movie, but the talent of the main cast is there.
