ImalittleLESSfluffyNOW's Journal, 29 Aug 22

I started my Journey here on May 24 with the goal to lose 20 lbs. I loved to drink wine or bubbly regularly but decided to stop until I reached my goal as a reward for the hard work. 3 months later I reached my goal and last week I opened that bottle of bubbly to celebrate. I drank half one night and half the next. After the second night, I realized I didn't really enjoy it as much as I thought I would Sooooooo - I think from now on, an occasional drink out is fine because I have changed - for the better I think 🤔

I feel the same way about a lot of foods I abandoned from my fat days. Added sugar is the biggest one, in terms of bread and sweets. I get my sugar naturally through fruit now. Went to have a single chocolate chip cookie, and threw it away after only one bite, it was that sickeningly sweet. I'm definitely saving myself ook-a-boo calories, and processed desserts no longer tempt me. I'll just have a mango or a bunch of grapes instead.

good for you! I have noticed this with many high calorie foods like donuts etc. they just don't have the same effect on me as they use to so no point eating them and more calories for other stuff.

I realized a few years ago that it was the company that I enjoyed more so than the alcohol. It took a little while to feel comfortable about not sipping on a drink with my friends, and even longer for them. But now everyone is copacetic with me drinking iced tea. Very occasionally I have a glass of something, but I just can’t metabolize alcohol any more; and quite frankly a hangover from 1-2 drinks just isn’t worth it! If I am gonna have a hangover, I want to have EARNED that baby😂!

@ImalittleLESS, Same here! I used to have wine or beer pairing with dinner (after dinner cognac) before joining here in March. After 6 months, this past weekend, I was happy with just sips mostly for flavor! And just a few ounces set off gigglefest 🤣😂😁 Also, alcohol dries out the skin, less is better. Kudos for realizing it 😉

Thank you all for your support and encouraging posts. I never feel alone here with my FS-family because I see your posts and know we all struggle with something in life (sometimes daily). Staying the course - Logging all food, being calorie deficit and patience is the key for sure. Trust the process! 🙂🙃🙂🤗😘

Hubby & I had wine with dinner for years. I decided a couple of months ago or so I'd do an alcohol free week cause I was stuck a couple of lbs. over my maintenance goal weight. Hubby joined me. We had a social occasion on the weekend so we had drinks then. But, the daily habit of less drinking has stuck. If we want a glass of wine or a cocktail we feel free to endulge but have replaced our wine with sparkling water most days. Now I don't have to save 250-300 daily calories for wine 😊🍷Oh, and the extra lbs. went away & I've been maintaining 3 to 4 lbs. under goal. 😁
