Finally (nearly 2 months in) figured out why my sodium intake is always so high (very often double the RDI.) It’s the high-density starches! Things like potatoes, rice, and pasta that are so bland in flavour that I end up *doctoring them up* with gravy or sauces or the like. More veggies and a lot less of those starches moving forward. This is probably old news to most of you but it’s an epiphany to me!

I always “counted” the gravy/sauce/etc. and figured I was doing ok just because my calorie count was still within my limits, but never realized how much sodium I was adding using them.

Have you tried Epicure? They have all natural, non GMO etc herbs and spices that range from salt free to less salt. And every product is very good. I rarely use any other brand now. I have a bit of an addiction lol!

Gramma Laura thanks for sharing! It is so easy for hidden sodium (and sugars!) to creep up on us. And although, we may know this, it’s always good to be reminded. Well done for recognizing and adjusting 😊

I try to make my own if I need to so that I can monitor what goes in. Soy can be a bad culprit for me so I dilute it.
