LaughingChevre, I don't mind honest dialog. My style of eating may not work for everyone. I don't have an eating disorder (that I'm aware of) so I seem to be able to manage cravings. My weight gains over the years have been cause I love food and sometimes overindulged. For the average person they can eat a variety of foods, if they eat in moderation and maintain a healthy weight. I often click on someone's profile to find out more background about their food choices. I'm retired & we've been on lockdown for a year 😬 I have time 😀

I will admit that in the beginning it aggravated me when someone told me I shouldn't eat carbs & foods with sugar. I just got more patient over time 😊

😊Well, I think that carbs, especially potatoes, are very healthy, excellent for energy and satiety.

Isn't sauercraut a vegetable? 🤔😆 Those potatoes look like an appropriate portion. It doesn't bother me if someone wants to say how they could modify it for themselves. But what really gets under my skin is when I'm being successful but I hit a plateau which is completely normal and I vent my frustration and someone then tells me I eat too many carbs. Bothers me because everyone plateaus at some point and I'm trying change my eating behaviors to something that is sustainable over the rest of my life. But it really bothers me most when they haven't lost any weight for several years. Honestly I just feel bad for them and I worry about their health. Oh well. Sherry your meals are great and you're doing wonderful on maintenance!!!

Bear, about the carbs, that annoys me more than anything else because it's misinformation. Cutting carbs will not result in greater fat loss unless it results in a greater caloric deficit. It will often give the illusion of faster weight loss because of the released water. The studies show that high-fat low-carb, low-fat high carb, mixed macros, none of it matters. The results are practically the same (weight AND blood markers of metabolic health) if you lose weight.

*by mixed macros, I mean fat and carbs in any ratio you like. protein matters very much.

Bear, you hit the nail on the head. I think we all have to find a WOE we are willing to follow forever. I could not go the rest of my life without eating pasta, potatoes, bread, wine & desserts. I ate all those and lost weight...I just ate less. After meeting goal, I added more calories...some of those in the form of the above foods. I make sure my portions are reasonable. Occasionally I'll splurge, but I know I can't do that every day.

Thanks Sherry and Chevre!!! You know I totally agree with you Chev!!! I can understand if someone is diabetic they may need to cut carbs, but that is something entirely different than weightloss! I guess we can just keep being an example and keep an open dialogue with those who are looking for that miracle fix.
