JanusWoman's Journal, 09 Dec 20

So I thought I'd upload a couple of progress pics. There are no pics of me from when I started in September because I couldn't even bring myself to look at my body in a mirror never mind take a photograph. Too dispiriting.

In the before pictures here I am about 7 weeks into losing weight and have already lost 8kg. The second pics are taken today, another 7kg down.

I will be 49 in January. I am 5'7" / 1m 70

These photos show, according to BMI charts,1) low end obesity and 2) right at the high end of the 'overweight' category.

I don't have anything to show off (!), and still a long way to go (in fact I'm only halfway: another 14kg to lose if I want to hit a 'normal' BMI) but I thought it might be interesting to post at this stage.

Hi Sue, thanks! I started off with the Michael Mosley Fast 800 - 2 weeks on 800 calories a day, eating low carb. I think the main benefits of those two weeks were refocusing on nutrition and feeling full and understanding quite how much processed carbs spike my blood sugar and cause me to feel hungry and overeat. Since then I have averaged 1300 cals a day. I do two non-consecutive days on 800 calories, high protein low carb, and the rest of the time I just eat normally but do count calories. Nothing is banned or cheat food, I can have what I like as long as I keep the average, so Fridays and Saturdays are higher cal days for me, with wine, cake if I want, just bearing in mind the effect of things that make me overeat. I have done Body Pump (Les Mills) for years and really love it. I do it at home three days a week for full body strength training, and on weekends I walk with the family. Because I cook for a family I have had to figure out, plan and insist on meals that are not always everyone's favourites, but which can adapt to what I need and what others need/want too. Sounds like an odd thing to say, but mums often give way to everyone else (unless you are prepared to cook two meals/eat separately) and try and diet on smaller portions of the wrong foods, so a big part of keeping on track has been putting my health needs up there as a priority. Long answer to a short question, but thank you for your support. I'm about half way there according to BMI, and feeling motivated for it! :)

Great job! Lovely legs and soon you will have a flat stomach. That is your years of body pump paying off, good structure built and maintained underneath just waiting to be revealed once the excess stripped off.

Thanks, Anne, that's very encouraging. I will be very happy when my boobs finally stick further forward than my tummy again :))
