Sharons Victory's Journal, 30 May 19

I need to stop obsessing and over complicating things.

I had this epiphany yesterday...as long as I keep my calories under what Fat Secret recommends then I'm being successful every single day.

Have a great day all! :)

You can go on google and do the weight loss calculator, Myself being age 50, low to some exercise, & what i need to lose comes up to net 1275 calories a day. Previous success stories I have seen in my weight loss need range -typically flex 1300-1000 calories per day

added footnote, Fat secret has me at 1700 calories a day to lose, which is way too high... Maint calories for me will probably be around the 1400-1500 range

Kaysea - You are indeed lucky if you've lost your weight (50 lbs. Congratulations!) on 2000 k/cal /day. I can't lose on more than 1600. I do think that age has a part to play.

Perfect work~ calories count and if you simply burn more than you consume, there is deficit and you will lose. The less I weigh, the less calories I need to sustain me. And, I try to stay active.

it's easy to get caught up with macro's and micro's...but you said it, right there!

I do think there are health attributes to calories -- some are healthier than others. It does make a difference whether you're eating milky way bars or broccoli. It's not only about calories.

I double checked it with several websites and if the websites conflict I add them and divide to average them out haha! So...I set my fat secret to sedentary even though I go to the gym so that I know for sure I'm in a good deficit. I'm 5'4 1/2" so I put 5'4" and I'm 35 years old so it set me at 1600 calories...and most websites say 1700-1800 for me to maintain my current weight so that's about right...and I'll be in a bigger deficit with the gym!

I believe macros matter for millions of reasons but I'm not going to go in to it...long story short, some foods give you nutrition, some don't...insulin can effect weight loss as well as hunger...so that comes in to play too...and some foods make you feel fuller longer and some will help you feel more energetic so you'll move more...very complex. Some will help you not lose muscle so your metabolism will be faster...so so many details that do matter very much!

Good job! Your body, your choice. I do what I feel like doing and change my mind later if I want :) Also, you can get to your full diet calendar at this link: https://www.fatsecret.com/Diary.aspx?pa=mdc&cdt=17897&id=11700623 you can see your averages by the month. This factors out the 'water weight' fluctuations. Comp[are this to your weight loss chart and you will see what-really-worked-for-you in the past. Good Luck!

adef oh yes I've used and thought that! I need to make it point to visit monthly

adef - my only complaint is that the weight doesn't show on this same calendar...I have to bounce back and forth from calendar to weight charge to see what worked.
