It's been a uphill battle this week to get my diet in line with my goals but last night DH made me some deep fried bacon wrapped shrimp for dinner (not shown- a side salad) for V- Day instead of going out (my choice to stay in bc he offered). This has probably been the best thing Ive eaten all week taste-wise. Im still struggling to log daily food and stay in line but Im making progress and better choices every day. Rome wasn't built in a day - I guess LOL. I have managed to go to gym every day this week and not eat after 8pm. Im also bringing my breakfast and lunch to work most days.. It's just the small things, like not giving in when others are eating garbage. I normally would just hide and not log sh!t bc Im embarrassed but Im passed that. Im never gonna get where I want to be if Im not honest.. most of all with myself. SOOOO with that said... Im looking for advice.. I dont think low carb is really for me anymore. HCB mentioned to me that maybe try something else... Any input is appreciated. What Im looking for is maybe mostly low carb-ish with the occasional apple or gluten free piece of toast.. I dont know.... Im clueless. And I really need a "list" or "guideline" to follow bc Im full of sh!t and will justify why its ok to eat that tortilla or rice..

My problem with low cab or keto is that for me it's not sustainable long term. I've been on it and lost weight, sometimes have used it as a jump start or to help navigate through holiday times when there are lots of carb laden temptations. But long term I just want more variety...none of this said to knock the WOE at all, if it works for you go for it. Back to input you'd asked for - here's what I've settled on: I've set an RDI for calories, and targets for grams of fat, carbs, fiber, and protein each day. I normally plan my meals ahead of time and often log the food in before I prepare/eat it which helps me keep on track better and make adjustments as needed. I try to not eat refined or processed carbs, rather I seek to get my carbs from whole foods. This means cutting out sweets/sugars, most bread, and pre-packaged processed foods. Most cooking is done from scratch. Low carb wraps such as Mission Carb Balance are good, make a great thin crust low carb pizza or sandwich wrap. So it's a structured flexible eating plan that allows me to have a wide variety of foods. Weight loss is gradual, but if we are committed to a new way of life and eating then this is a journey we'll be on for the rest of our lives. Look at it that way and just keeping on the journey is more important than how fast we drop the weight, and probably also a healthier approach. Just so you know, before I got active here again in January, I had been in similar habits and mindframe that you mentioned - sneaking or hiding the bad stuff I was eating and not logging or admitting to it. I was ashamed of it and my weight gain so I avoided this site. That got me nowhere except gradually putting on pounds. Makes no sense to lie to ourselves yet it's a very human thing to do.

thank you JMB-- that's exactly what Im looking for.. Im thinking, no I KNOW i need better planning and execution. Ive been out of pocket for about a year and half....Im just waiting for it to all "click" again like it did for me the 1st time around. Regardless, Im not quitting, Im going to continue to take it one day at a time.. Working on my grocery list for tomorrow. Planning on going to the "nice" HEB bc they have a better selection of healthy choices. THANK YOU!

Calories in - calories out. Figure out exactly what you eating and what you are burning trough movement and exercise
