I figure I might go ahead and post my answers for today in here as well to the "what is your why" challenge I'm doing with the HSM community. Perhaps it will resonate, or maybe not. Either way, don't forget to ask yourself every once and awhile, "what is my why?"

Why did you say “today matters in my health journey”?
Because, I know every choice I make in the present moment that helps to cultivate a healthy lifestyle serves my future goals and ensures I keep excess weight off this form for good.

What have I given up on in the past?
I thought hard about this one, but I have to say if there was one thing I gave up on in previous health and weight loss endeavors, it was the inherent right to set personal boundaries around how I approach food and exercise.

How are my choices today not giving up?
The choices I make in the present moment reflect a heart, mind, and body that is focused on what it can do that helps this being live to the greatest measure of its health and vitality, not on what it hasn’t done. And, I don’t wait to “feel motivated”. I’m not concerned about doing it perfectly. I just do it. It’s about showing up for this mind and body in a way I never have previously. It’s about treating this body the same way we want marital partners, friends, and family to treat us. It’s learning to live out loud, and making no apologies for making our hearts desire a number one priority.

I also tried to get to the bottom of my 'why'. Here is what I came up with for myself: I want to be able to walk without pain in my heels. I want to look better in the mirror and wear clothes that fit and look good. I remember how it feels to do things with ease and the pleasure it is to use my body whether running up and down stairs or to go for a walk. I want that again I need a body that will do the things I want to do. I do not want to say, I can’t because my body is limiting me. My Goals 1. I will heal my Achilles tendon by gently strengthening it through daily exercise that focuses on balance and range of movement in my foot. 2. I will carefully log all of my food to ensure that I am eating a balanced diet within the calorie range I determine. 3. I will gently do the things I enjoy while supporting my feet including dancing and walking 4. I will maintain my weight spreadsheet to maximize my ability to ‘tweak’ my program and to celebrate successes! 5. I will drink 8 cups of water daily. I am pleased to report that I have met each of my goals on a daily basis since I wrote this out early in November. I like how you saw that the personal agency is the piece that gives you the power to choose for yourself. That is key in my opinion. I also believe in just showing up and doing what needs to be done. I do this in every area of my life -- at the work place, for my family, for my husband and finally for myself. I too believe in loving and treating my body with respect. Thank you for sharing.

You're very welcome, Carol. And, those look like very reasonable, and just a essential, sustainable actions. I very much resonate with your "why's" as well :-)
