Ketosis does not really helps with a weight loss. The initial decrease in body weight happens due to depletion of muscle glycogen (the storage form of carbohydrates). Normally they bind some water and add some weight to the body.

As we move into ketosis, with low intake of carbohydrates, that supply of glycogen is used first, before the body switches to ketons.
