On Friday morning I did:
Funk Roberts - 30 Minute Dumbbell Superset Workout | Build Muscle - Burn Fat
Followed by:
Daniela Suarez - 5 MIN QUICK FULL BODY STRETCHING EXERCISES FOR AFTER WORKOUT | Relax, recover and gain flexibility!

Then on Sunday evening when I realised I wouldn't have time in the morning, I did:
jessicasmithtv - Met Con 3

Really great workouts and I upped my weights back to 6.5kg each after a comment from hubby that I'm not lifting heavy - and he is right. I need to improve.

So, I did modify somewhat and did alternate sides with one weight when it was a bit too much for me, but I feel like I worked more. So will be trying to increase weight as I go, but 6.5kg for Feb is fine for now.

Hubby got me a cheap fitness tracker watch for my birthday on Friday. I've been wanting one for years now and always complaining about Google Fit on my phone not being very accurate - and then of course I leave it home charging for lots of walks too. I've loved the watch so far.

It's already motivated me to move more and I average 9k steps over the weekend from Friday. It dropped yesterday because I didn't walk anywhere besides at work, but we did an hour walk this morning so will hopefully get the daily average around 6.5k.

Have a Terrific Tuesday all! xxx

01 February 2024

Late this morning I did:
HASfit - 30 Min Dumbbell Chest Workout at Home - Chest and Triceps Exercises

Quite a good workout, but it felt very slow-paced so I don't think I'll be repeating it any time soon. So that means I've managed 2 strength workouts again this week and again I am at the crossroads of trying to change that to 3. Time will tell.

I'm taking a break from tracking this weekend as it's the end of the month and my birthday tomorrow. Traditional South African Peppermint Crisp Tart (using Peppermint Aero rather then the Crisp, and substituting sugar-free soya yoghurt for the cream) will be made and enjoyed. I also have a hankering for red velvet cheesecake brownies so I will go for a nice walk to buy them on Saturday while hubby is away at work.

This week I haven't had to walk to work and that also means hubby was home for a few more days than usual so we walked to some local shopping centres for groceries and whatnot. It does feel like a workout when you lug a backpack full up three flights of stairs. I've also been doing quite a bit more hoovering and mopping at work than usual and I think those move-minutes might be adding up too. Even though the Google Fit app on my phone is completely rubbish at tracking it...

I'm taking the day off work tomorrow and we'll go for a nice walk along an abandoned canal and through a little village. Hoping the weather's as good as today - we had some beautiful clear skies and I'm glad we got out again for a walk to the library.

Not sure if I'm headed for a good weigh-in tomorrow morning, but I will try to track it even if it's not what I wanted. I am 2.2kg away from where I'd like to be so I need to work on reducing daily average calories in order to reach that so perhaps from Monday I'll make more of a concerted effort.

Hope you all have a Fabulous Friday tomorrow! And a lovely weekend too! xxx

28 January 2024

On Friday morning I did:
Kaleigh Cohen Strength - Upper Body & Abs with Dumbbells | 30 min
Followed by her:
POST-WORKOUT STRETCH for Injury Prevention & Flexibility

5kg weights felt good and I could feel I'd worked the abs all weekend. I feel like my muffin top is receding, but would need to find my misplaced measuring tape (or buy a new one) to establish that. Jeans aren't any looser yet so I know there is progress to be made - and now my holiday is creeping up - 7 weeks to go...

There are some size 10 items in my closet, which I'd love to fit into, but that might be a tad ambitious.

I'm still only managing two strength workouts a week and daily average calories are still hovering about 1850 - hence weight loss is slow. I did see 67.7kg on Wednesday morning, but I've made some bad choices (did someone say hollandaise?) since then so I have to 'own' it. Hoping I can claw it back this week.

I've decided that if I can get below 66kg by mid March that would be acceptable.

My step count has also dropped this week because I had the car to get to work most days and next week will be the same so I need to fit a walk in to my day at some point. I have managed to set my body clock to wake up at 7am though - so that is a baby step in the right direction.

Hope you all have a great week coming up! The end of Jan already - where does the time go? xxx

22 January 2024

This morning I did:

Heather Robertson - Full Body STRENGTH Workout with Dumbbells (Low Impact/No Jumping)

And on Friday morning I did her:
30 MIN Arm Strength Workout // HR12WEEK EXPRESS : Day 17

Still not managing to get daily average calories below 1900 calories, but I think it's still good to keep tracking. The scale said 68.1kg on Friday morning, but the day got away from me so I didn't record it.

So, that was two strength workouts for last week. I will try for 3 this week. Since it's only 20 mins of actual work I'm hoping doms won't be so bad, but also because of that I will possibly try to increase to 4 workouts a week. We'll see how it goes.

Thank you for everyone's support on my last post - I haven't been on the app as much as I'd like to, but will keep trying.

Have a lovely week everyone! xxx
