Nikina70's Journal, 21 Aug 20

So Wednesday night I went way over my calories and had two glasses of Merlot so that was that. Decided not to track from Thursday - too much junk food and not feeling like weighing anything. Also will pack away my kitchen and bathroom scale and gym stuff this weekend - pre move - and start again on Monday, the 31st - post move.

Did 2 x 50min YouTube workouts.

Looking forward to a fresh start in September. Gonna be a while before we're a bit more settled in the new year. Staying with family until then will be interesting, but I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with them. Lots more challenges ahead, but hopefully will all be worth it in the end.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Great job with the workouts, Nikina! And I hope you enjoyed the treats and wine. Sometimes days like that are very much needed. ☺️ It sounds kind of good to be free from weighing and tracking your intake for a week or two. Listen to what your body needs and you’ll be totally good. I love a fresh start and when better to start than in September? Does it normally start warming up then where you are? Best of luck with the move and hope staying with family goes smoothly and is enjoyable. I’ve lived with my parents and my in-laws on two occasions as an adult and we’re all still alive, so I say it was a success. 😬 Have a wonderful weekend. 💖

Thanks BesterM, nnwd, Keto Petra and Shereen for your kind comments! Yes, September is the start of Spring here so it's the perfect time for a fresh new start. We will be staying with my mother and sister for a while and then a shorter period with hubby's sister and his niece so that will be fun. Hoping that we can somehow stick to our own routine and not adopt bad habits - my family are snackers and always have cake in the house so it will be a challenge. I will attempt to get my mom to do some walking with me. On the other hand my sister in-law is vegan so we're looking forward to all she can teach us and sure we will walk and hike with them. As new-ish vegetarians it will be nice to be around someone who makes it look easy.

some exciting times laying ahead, I'm sure also stressful to some degree. where are you from? I too am packing at the moment moving anytime from mod Sept to beginning Oct. feels like a mountain ahead of me but excited, bigger house so I can really sort.my gym area out them...Can't wait. We will also have a big garden so gardening is first on list was thinking of an organic veggie garden. will have to build a green house as weather here is 4 seasons in one day so not quite sure what to plant when so greenhouse a must. You will be a great inspiration to your family. wishing you all the best with the move and settling in . do share some ideas 're vegan front would love to learn. om not vegan but love veg and am wanting to scale down omdat and do more vegan for me during the week. say 3 times a week vegan....not sure what's best.

Thanks KetoPetra! I would love to help my elderly mom reverse her diabetes risk, but will start with baby steps and try to get her moving some more.

vdbergj I hope your move goes smoothly too! I am near Cape Town. Moving to Cape Town for the rest of this year and if all goes to plan it will be the UK for next year. We are downsizing in a big way, but I hope to set up a gym area wherever we end up too. Your organic veggie garden sounds like a great idea! We had a veggie patch at our current place and it is so satisfying eating things you've grown (although it was mostly through hubby's efforts). We would love to have a small garden again. Where are you moving from and to? My first guess is perhaps to New Zealand? I'm thinking eating vegan three times a week is a great idea! I would say most of our meals are plant based, but then we eat the occasional eggs and dairy the rest of the time and when we eat out. I've sent you a follow request. All the best!

You sure are a go getter, Nakina. Your journal is inspiring. I have no doubt that you will meet any goal so set. I too have found so much information on YouTube. I wouldn't have been able to reach my goal with out it . I'm med disabled so exercise isn't much of an option any more. My preferred method of eating is Keto. It works for me anf makes me feel good. I'll eat high carbs once in awhile for bdays and such but, I get a little sick the next day. Like a hang over. . Thank you for the support. I couldn't have made my goal with out the support I get here on fs either. Great place to find encouragement and gain some wisdom

Glad you've found what works for you insidious one! Many people reach their goals without doing any exercise so I believe it is possible, but I also know that it can give so much enjoyment so I hope you find a way to move your body even if just a bit of light stretching or a short stroll each day for starters. All the best on your journey!

I'm able to walk some not a mile hike or anything but I can do some outside activities, fishing, gardening but not this year due to being hospitalized the month of May, I like water Zumba n other water aerobics. I use to like weights but at the moment I need a new Right shoulder and namiscus repair.

Insidious One I hope you're recovering well from being in hospital! Walking, gardening and your other activities sound great so I hope you can slowly increase those. Water Zumba sounds like great fun as well! Hope you can get your repairs done soon and that you're not in too much pain! All the best!

Awe! Thanks for asking Niki. Tomorrow morning. I mean in 7 1/2 hrs I'll be getting a cortisone inj in my left knee. See a surgeon on the 23rd for the right shoulder.. Physically with walking I'm doing fair. Mentally I'm not all There. I hope being able to pay attention and follow a conversation
