I went into the office today for the first time in weeks... and I couldn't help myself but to indulge in a slap-chippie from the cafe that our team is obsessed with. best chips/samoosas/salomies in Cape Town. I figured since the last time was pre lockdown, why not?! yes. it'll show on my scale tomorrow because my body loves to hold on after a carb feast, but hey. was it worth it? With masala spice and extra vinegar? absolutely yes! 🍟🤤🎉

Joburgs Indian equivalent is "akhals"... The food.... 😋... They even do "wonder why" pizzas and AK special rolls... These have slap chips, viennas, polony, steak, cheese, and the works on them... Always reserve for my cheat days... The pizzas are loaded with chips as well. Calorie killing stuff 🙈

Very Nice those slap chips. Seems we all in same boat. Arrive home this evening and the wife and baby went for photoshoot and brought the props home.... beautiful ginger cake... and some family with pizzas.... eish, i was strong, made my tuna and boiled eggs, but it all just looked too lekker. So tomorrow is gonna be rough

Must be something in the air though! I got home, did a more brisk than usual walk cos I had planned a lekker 'chip fest' albeit a tuned down oven bake homemade version! 😇 Boy did I smul!... 😋

I have been resisting the snacks craving like it's been bad..One Bag is like 491 calories...I literally walked to the store yesterday and turned back 😂 I knew if I went in...my calorie limit for the day would walk right out the door. I am so glad I'm not the only one experiencing tremendous cravings this week..It is so bad🤦 yet we persist and if we fail...we try again.

@Veritas cravings are natural. I don't believe that to deny myself is good for my overall journey. For a number of different reasons, I have made a conscious choice to lose my weight very slowly. I live very much by the 80/20 idea and this give me balance... The longer I have done it this way, the more strength I actually have in overcoming some more binge-like cravings that I used to experience (picture the Cookie Monster on crack) so now I treat myself to something a bit indulgent once every so often and for the rest of the time I really enjoy my healthy meals because I also have fun cooking new things. I think a lot of buckling to craving is part habit part addiction. (For me it definitely is this way) so it takes time. It is also important to know that one naughty meal doesn't throw you off your wagon. I eat two meals a day, that's 14 meals a week and that's about 54 chances to make good choices in the month. 1 indulgence shouldn't matter much.... If you know you can stop it at that one thing...

I fully agree with you Shereen. I am also doing it roughly 80/20 and don't believe in depriving myself as long as I track everything and it fits into my calories. Even if calories do go over on occasion - whether for the day or the week - you just do better the next time until it's a lifestyle and you know it's not the end of the world if you go over here or there. As you say - 1 out of 54 meals is not going to derail anything.

@Shereen and Nikina_70. Thank you guys so much. I've had a horrible last couple of days and I realised it's because I was being so hard on myself. An occasional treat here and there will ensure I am able to consistently create a healthy lifestyle. So again thank you guys😊
