I am an ordinary English-speaking, South African guy. I married a lovely Afrikaans-speaking lady and between us we have five adult children - I have three and she, two. We have been following a LCHF lifestyle since 2014 when we both realised that we need to do something about our burgeoning bodies. We both rapidly lost weight - I lost 30kg in eight months and maintained that weight more-or-less for three years. Then we visited my sister in the USA in Dec 2017 and realised that it is almost impossible to maintain dietetic discipline in a foreign country and so our discipline began to slip, but not entirely. I gained four kg during our stay in the States and more-or-less maintained that weight for a year, until we visited the States again in Dec 2018 and then we entirely lost our discipline and recently, I was 14,5kg heavier than my goal weight, when I decided to resume my LCHF lifestyle. Although my weight stabilized, I was not losing, in spite of my best efforts to eat in accordance with my best dietary guidelines. Since stopping the use of all alcohol, I am once-again losing weight. I love road running and hope to get back on the road soon - I have not run for four months due to a foot injury that is not healing so quickly.
